First Choice Collision Gifts Car to Single Mom
Recently First Choice Collision Cypress had the opportunity to help this local single mom in need. The nonprofit organization Cy-fair Helping Hands reached out to First Choice Collision when one of their clients was in need. Jean Dreyer, founder and Executive Director of Homeless Initiatives, explains, “Teresa, a disabled, single mother, is the care giver for her adult son, who is also disabled. The two of them work odd jobs here and there to supplement their small disability income. Awhile back, their car gave up, and they have been stranded and unable to look for work or to get to Cy-Fair Helping Hands for assistance. We have been taking them food, but knew that without a car, their circumstances would not improve.”
“Our client was stuck in a vicious cycle; without a car, she was unable to work to provide for herself and her son, but without a job, she was unable to work to earn enough to buy a car. What would look like a simple 15-minute trip to the grocery store, was a five mile walk in the Texas heat for our client and her son,” adds CFHH Senior Project Manager, Suzanne Gilman.
It was in passing at the Annual Cy-Fair Chamber Business of the Year luncheon (where First Choice Collision was a nominee) where the nonprofit approached First Choice Collision that put the events into motion. Thanks to Ronnie Johnston, and Mike Matejek, (First Choice Collision Co-Owners), life has taken a decided turn for the better for Teresa and her son. First Choice Collision was also instrumental in securing a local insurance agency Bench Insurance who provided Teresa with 6 months of auto insurance coverage at no cost to her to help her get on the road without having to endure additional financial stress.
We were happy to be in a position to help Cy-fair Helping Hands and their client Teresa. While we are in the business of providing exceptional customer service and quality repairs for our neighbors in need, we also strive to be actively involved in our communities.
